🎉 Major Update: Kuwait's new visa-on-arrival system removes both the nationality restriction and the profession-based limitation that existed previously. Now ANY nationality — Pakistani, Indian, Filipino, Bangladeshi, Egyptian — who holds a valid GCC residency permit of 6+ months can get a visa on arrival in Kuwait.
🇰🇼 What is the Kuwait Visa on Arrival for GCC Residents?
Kuwait has introduced a simplified visa-on-arrival system for expatriates who already hold a valid residency permit in any other GCC country — UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, or Oman. This means if you live and work in Dubai, Riyadh, or Doha, you can travel to Kuwait and get a visa at the airport without any prior application.
This replaces the older, more restrictive policy that limited access based on both nationality and profession. The new system is open to all nationalities and all professions — making Kuwait significantly more accessible for the millions of South Asian and other expats living in the Gulf.
✅ Who Qualifies?
✓
Valid GCC Residency Permit: You must hold an active, valid residency permit from any GCC country — UAE Emirates ID, Saudi Iqama, Qatar QID, Bahrain CPR, or Oman Residence Card — with at least 6 months of validity remaining.
✓
Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your intended travel date to Kuwait.
✓
Return Ticket: You should have a confirmed return or onward travel ticket. Kuwait immigration may ask for this at the point of entry.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can Pakistanis get Kuwait visa on arrival from UAE?+
Yes. Pakistani nationals holding a valid UAE Emirates ID with 6+ months validity are fully eligible for Kuwait visa on arrival. The new system removed all nationality-based restrictions — any nationality with a valid GCC residence permit qualifies.
Does profession matter for Kuwait visa on arrival?+
No. The old Kuwait visa system restricted access based on profession. The new system has completely removed profession-based limitations. All professions — including domestic workers and labourers — are now eligible.
How long can I stay in Kuwait on visa on arrival?+
The initial stay is typically 30 days. This may be extendable once for another 30 days (total 60 days) through Kuwait's immigration department. For longer stays, you would need to apply for a proper Kuwait residence or visit visa.
What if my GCC residency permit is expiring soon?+
Your GCC residence permit must have at least 6 months of validity remaining at the time of entry into Kuwait. If your permit expires in less than 6 months, you will not qualify and should obtain a proper Kuwait visa through your country's embassy before travelling.
